Meat Cake, photography and randomness

I came across this gem today while surfing the internet.

It’s a cake. A manly cake. Made from MEAT. (Click the link if you don’t believe me 🙂

In other news, I shot some pictures this week. I caught a real live train on 4th Street by the Convention Center.

I also went photowalking with some flickr folks on Sunday.

In other news, I’ve gotten semi-sucked into Twitter, which is one of those high-energy social network things. I’m not sure I quite have the high energy for it, thus the semi- prefix.

Rail schedules

So, for those of us interested in railroading… I have been unable to find any sort of schedule online for when trains are scheduled to ride along the various rail systems that spread throughout Austin.

I am sure this information used to be public, but has quickly hidden in the name of TERRORISM!

Just kidding, FBI.

Oklahoma Suks

Yes, I know it’s misspelled – and no, I don’t care.

Every year, Independence Brewing Co. makes a special beer – Oklahoma Suks Beer. The idea came about last year, when the owner found out an Oklahoma brewery was making a Texas Sucks beer.

(More of the story here.)

I’m yet to find out where to buy any of this beer, but if I find out, I’ll let y’all know.

Louie Mueller BBQ

Today I took a short 70 mile trip for lunch. Destination: Louie Miller BBQ in beautiful downtown Taylor, TX.

I had a side of potato salad, quarter pound of brisket, one link of jalapeno sausage, and one link of chipotle sausage.

The brisket was moist and by itself good – when you added the sauce, it became a slice of heaven.

The potato salad was divine – just enough mustard, perfectly-boiled potatoes and all the right spices.

The pièce de résistance must be the sausage, though. The jalapeno was just the right amount of spice, and the chipotle… oh my – there are no words to describe it. It must simply be experienced.

Rinsed down with copious amounts of freshly brewed ice tea, I don’t know that I could’ve spent the time anywhere better….

Taking chances

One of the things I’ve always wanted to do, was to make money off my photography in some form or another.

So this week was spent organizing all that was neccesary to start putting up images on photoshelter.com.

I realise there’s not much up there now, but hopefully the selection will grow as I comb through my 6000+ photos on my laptop.

So here’s to being entrepreneurial.

Cheers.
