Equipment woes and God’s grace

For those of you who were wondering why I haven’t posted many photos lately – back in early October, I had my camera equipment stolen, and I’ve just last weekend managed to get it replaced.

There was some consternation about cameras costing money, money being scarce while unemployed and whatnot… all that has been resolved (new job two weeks ago, hooray), and I find myself in the possession of replacement equipment (hooray again!).

The story is kind of amusing, in looking back on it. The day I was laid off from Dell, I was contacted by a contracting company, who were looking for a Sr. Network Engineer for an internet services provider in Austin. I never heard anything back from them for weeks – until right around the time my camera equipment was stolen. By then, the company was interested in moving forward with interviews, and wanted to speak with me.

As said, so done — in short order I had a phone screen, in-person interview and job offer. And in accepting it, I had residual money from my Dell lay-off to pay for the replacement gear.

These are the moments that are too good to be coincidental. Sometimes God is so good, I don’t realize it.

In more art-related news, I spent the last two days roaming around visiting EAST – the East Austin Studio Tour. It was good getting some camera time in, and talking to artists of various kinds. I had several long conversations with artists who were pretty inspiring as well.

There are photographs. Check back in the next few days for them.
